CONSTIPATION DIET
A constipation diet includes lots of fiber, fruits, vegetables, and fluids.
Foods to eat
Whole grains:
- Such as whole wheat bread, pasta, oatmeal, and bran flake cereals
Legumes :
- Such as lentils, black beans, kidney beans, soybeans, and chickpeas
Fruits :
- Such as berries, apples with the skin on, oranges, and pears
Vegetables :
- Such as carrots, broccoli, green peas, and collard greens
Nuts :
- Nuts
Prunes :
- Contain high levels of fiber, fructose, and sorbitol
Green leafy vegetables :
- Such as spinach, Brussels sprouts, and broccoli
Drinks to have water and other fluids, prune juice, warm juices, decaffeinated teas, and hot lemonade.
Other tips
- Gradually increase fiber in your diet
- Exercise most days of the week
- Use good bowel habits
- Try to pass stool 15 to 45 minutes after a meal

If you have chronic constipation, consider consulting with a dietitian. Other causes of constipation include dehydration, stress, a disrupted daily routine, and underlying health conditions.
